Bryans Extend Perfect Beijing Record; Brazilians Beat Top Seeds In Tokyo

Top seeds Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan advanced to the semi-finals of the China Open Thursday with a 7-6(4), 6-2 victory over Israeli duo Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram at the ATP World Tour 500 hard-court tennis tournament in Beijing.

In a testing opening set against the former Australian Open champions, the Bryans twice squandered a break advantage before prevailing in the ensuing tie-break. The second set was more comfortable for the American twins, with service breaks in the second and eighth games taking them to victory in 85 minutes. In the next step of their quest for a 10th tour-level title this season, the Bryans will face Chinese Taipei’s Yen-Hsun Lu and German Florian Mayer, who dispatched Chinese wild cards Mao-Xin Gong and Zhe Li 3-6, 6-1, 12-10.
