"Bryans Earn Shot At Title, Mercedes-Benz Cup: Camarillo
Twins beat Mirnyi-Haas Team to Reach Todays Final"
"Los Angeles - - - Mike and Bob Bryan continued their doubles
hot streak on Saturday afternoon as they cruised to a 6-4, 6-2 victory
over Belarus Max Mirnyi and Germanys Tommy Haas in the
semifinals of the Mercedes-Benz Cup at the Tennis Center at UCLA"
The Bryans, who have won 16 out of their last 17 matches dating back
to June 11, used a strong serving game and timely returning to win
their third match of the tournament."
"Mike returned well and I served well," said
Bob. Those are our strengths and when we do those things well
we are in good shape."
" . . . . . Many local fans were in attendance to cheer on the
23-year-old Camarillo twins as they made their way onto the court
to their favorite song from the Dave matthews Band blaring over the
loudspeaker. When the match finished, the Bryans fired two balls into
the upper tier where a group . . . . . were sitting."
"It helps to look up there and see old faces and voices.
Before it would have been pressure, but now we just want to prove
ourselves to them, said Mike."
"The Bryans are on the right course to prove themselves to the
whole tennis world. With a No. 6 ranking and three tournament victories
this year, they are strong contenders for the Davis Cup team."
"We are starting to play like a big team now, said
Bob."
"This year were coming in here to win, Mike
Bryan said. We are really confident . . . . ."
(After winning Memphis) " . . . . . Woodbridge and Bjorkman
cam up to us and said its about time. We had beaten everyone
on tour, we just had no title."
"One key to success has been the brothers ability to keep
their emotions in check on the court. . . . . . Its important
to not get to o high or too happy, Bob Bryan said. Were
both calmer, more patient . . . ."
