Tennis Magazine, October, 1996, Brian Cleary, "Twin Bill of Excellence, 1996 Tennis Magazine Junior Tennis Players of the Year"

"Mike and Bob Bryan, twin brothers from Camarillo, Calif., never will forget their first experience playing in a main draw pro event. It happened last year when they got a wild card into the U.S.Open for winning the National Boys’ 18s doubles title."

"’We looked kind of small and skinny back then,’ says Mike Bryan, who like his brother, has grown 5 inches in the past year to 6 feet 2 inches. ‘At the practice courts, pro Brett Steven wanted to kick us off because he said, ‘Ball kids aren’t allowed to use these courts.’ We had to run back to the tournament desk to get proof that we were in the draw.’"

"While they may have had an identity crisis on the pro tour a year ago, the 18-year-old Bryans, who are attending Stanford this fall, have established themselves as luminaries on the junior circuit. This year, they both are ranked inside the top four in the nation in Boys’ 18’s singles. While that is impressive for brothers, it’s nothing compared to their doubles success."

"The Bryans arguably are the best junior doubles team in U.S. history. They have not lost as a team in a U.S. tournament since the summer of 1994, winning 10 straight events. This year they won the Easter Bowl title and defended their titles at both the National Clay Courts and the National Championships at Kalamazoo, Mich."
