Tennis USTA, October, 1994, Mark Winters, "Fashioning a Winning Doubles Team"

"It was all in the family as twins Bob and Mike Bryan and brothers Luke and Murphy Jensen took to the court for some abbreviated tie-break action at the Los Angeles Open in August."

The Bryan boys nipped the Jensen pros four points to three but, as you may have guessed, the playful Jensens didn’t exactly have their game faces on."

" . . . . . both Bryans were impressed with the rapport the fashion-conscious Jensens created with the crowd - - - Luke wearing a ‘Til Death Do Us Part’ denim jacket and Murphy donning a Irish soccer jersey."

While the Jensens were impressed with how the Bryans hit the ball, Luke offered some advice: ‘They need to match better,’ he said. ‘They’ve got the Wilson racquet thing down, but their shirts were another story. Brothers playing together is all about coordination. The better you coordinate, the better you play.’"

"Is sibling tennis a good thing?"

"’No question,’ Luke said. ‘I think it really helps when you have a good family foundation."

" . . . . . Did Luke consider the possible consequences his free advice might have if the Bryans turn pro someday and there’s a Jensen vs. Bryan rematch? We’ll be waiting to see."
