Mike Bryan of Camarillo reached the semi finals of Wimbledon Mixed Doubles yesterday when he and his partner Liezel Huber of South Africa upset #2 seeds Ellis Ferreira of South Africa and Ai Sugiyama of Japan, 6-3, 6-2.

They will take on Mahesh Bhupathi of Indian and Elena Likhovtseva from Russia in the semi finals today. Bhupathi and Likhovtseva beat Mike's brother Bob and his partner Lisa McShea of Australia in a long match over two days, 6-1, 4-6, 15-13.

Before their big win on Friday, Mike and Liezel had won three matches during the tournament, beating the Swedish team of Johan Landsberg-Asa Carlsson, 6-7, 6-3, 9-7; the 10th seeded team from Argentina, Lucas Arnold-Paola Suarez, 6-4, 6-2; and Karsten Braasch-Barbara Rittner of Germany, 7-6, 3-6, 13-11.

Mike had also reached the semi finals of the Men's Doubles with his twin brother Bob. They lost to the 3rd seeded team of David Rikl-Jiri Novak of the Czech Republic on Thursday in a close four set match. The loss snapped a 9 match win streak the Bryans had going for the past couple of weeks.

After Wimbledon the Bryan twins will play the Miller Lite Hall of Fame Championships in Newport, Rhode Island, the week of July 9-15; then the Mercedes Benz Cup in Los Angeles, the week of July 23-29; the Tennis Masters Series in Cincinnati, the week of August 6-12; and the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington DC, August 13-19.

The Bryan brothers graduated from Rio Mesa High in 1996 and they were the NCAA Team, Singles and Doubles Champs for Stanford in 1998 during their sophomore year.
